As the Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Christopher Augostini oversees the financial and operational enterprises of Georgetown University that support its academic mission of teaching, learning and research. Amid a changing higher education landscape in an increasingly connected world, Mr. Augostini’s leadership has focused on opportunities for growth, innovation and impact.

Guided by an emerging vision for the future of the University, Mr. Augostini leads the University’s master planning process to ensure the University has the physical and technological infrastructure to support a vibrant living and learning community on and off its five academic campuses. Under his leadership, significant milestones of physical master planning have included the opening of the Healey Family Student Center and renovation of the Former Jesuit Residence, both creating dynamic hubs of student life and academics.  

Mr. Augostini has prioritized modernizing the University’s technology infrastructure, strengthening Georgetown’s capability to facilitate access to information that is no longer constrained by physical boundaries. With this goal, Mr. Augostini launched a five-year technology modernization initiative, implementing innovative, enterprise-level academic computing systems and services harnessing mobile enablement, cloud storage and big data to enhance University operations.

To strengthen the professional development and retention of the top administrative talent required to meet the demands of an innovative University environment, Mr. Augostini established the SAGE program (Shaping and Advancing Georgetown Executives).  SAGE equips participants with tools to advance a climate of creativity and collaboration across units within the University. 

Mr. Augostini has worked to strengthen Georgetown’s international ties, particularly in China where partnerships with some of the most prominent universities and institutions in the country enable opportunities for Georgetown faculty and students to do their very best work in a global context. Under his leadership, the Georgetown Global Education Institute provides a series of custom training programs for international executive leaders in government, business, and finance. 

Mr. Augostini’s portfolio includes the Office of Financial Affairs, Internal Audit, the Investment Office, Planning and Facilities Management, Human Resources, Faculty and Staff Benefits, University Information Services, Auxiliary Services, and Emergency Management.

During his tenure the University’s endowment has increased by 150 percent, its bond rating has been upgraded by both Moody's and Standard and Poor's, and the University’s cash and operating positions have improved. He currently serves as a member of the W.R. Berkley Corporation Board of Directors, and previously served on the Joint Advisory Board between Georgetown University and the Qatar Foundation.

While at Georgetown, Mr. Augostini has served in a variety of leadership roles including Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for the University, and as the CFO of Georgetown's Law Center. Prior to Georgetown, Mr. Augostini worked for New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani's administration as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Mayor for Operations, Director of Intergovernmental Affairs, and as Deputy Budget Director.

Mr. Augostini holds a master's degree in public policy analysis and a bachelor's degree in public policy.
